Wedding Shower Card!

I went to a wedding shower this last weekend for my husband's cousin. I had a stamp that I was thinking of, but when the sketch challenge came up, I knew it was perfect for the card.

I stamped the towel set in Black and colored it in with Bashful blue. The bashful blue panels were run through my cuttlebug and then stamped with a silver stamp pad to make the swirls stand out better. I used scraps of silver wallpaper to frame the towels and panels and then mounted them on black card stock to make them pop. I also used my scallop scissors to cut the bottom edge. I used a silver gel pen to draw dot accents around the frames and write his and hers on the towels. Then I added the ribbon with a silver heart charm. I really like how this turned out. (Especially since my gift to her was towels!)

I made it through VSN!!!

I made it through VSN (Virtual Stamping Night on Splitcoaststampers.com) It is 18 hours and 18 projects posted online that you do at home. I completed about 13 of them. (It is so hard to finish a project in only 45 minutes.) Here are my cards!

The first challenge was "Circle of Friendship". The challenge was to do a circle card based on a sketch challenge. Here is mine. I used chocolate chip and tempting turquoise. I used the Simply Said set and added brown gingham ribbon. I cut the corner rounds out using the slit punch.

The Second Challege was "Chocolate Shoes" The challege was to do a card using chocolate shoes or the inspiration colors of pink & brown. I don't have anything with chocolate or shoes, but I do love this color combo, so I used the Delight in Life set with Pretty in pink & Chocolate Chip. I added the same brown gingham ribbon seen above and added dot accents with markers.

The Fourth challenge (I skipped the third challenge.) was called "V-Neck Baby!" The challenge was to create a criss-cross card. I used this striped paper called "Little Prince" from Bobunny because it matched perfectly with certainly celery, Not Quite Navy, and barely banana. I added the Birthday sentiments and the cupcake (all Michael's $ stamps). I love how this turned out. The little tab at the top pulls out a card. I accented the strip on the front of the card with a marker. The two little square brads that I used to hold on the top tag I found in an old container.

The next challenge was "Nails, Mud Mask & Lotion". A masking stamping challenge. I have never done this before, but I could see where it would be a great option. It allows you to layer stamps. I stamped the yellow flowers and then covered them with a post-it note that had been stamped and then cut out. It made it in the picture look like the yellow flowers are in front of the blue flowers in the picture. I used Not Quite Navy, Mellow Moss and Barely Banana. I stamped the edge of the cardstock with of the flowers from Springtime Stems in Mellow Moss. The Not Quite Navy panel was run through my Cuttlebug with a leather Shapeboss plate. I added two little snaps that had been crushed by my Crop-a-dile. I really like how they ended up.

The next challenge was one of the my favorites. The challenge was to make an animal completely from punches. I have always thought the scallop punch looked like a lion's made, so I used that as inspiration. His arms are word window punches and his body is a ticket. When I put him together, he looked like he was celebrating, so I went from there. The confetti stamps came from a clear set of stamps I got from Provo Craft. The diagonal paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Storytime line. (Left over from my son's birthday party invites. I used real red cardstock for the cards. I added the black gingham ribbon and red star brads to add a little color.

"Let's Do Our Nails" was a cool challenge. You used alcohol inks dabbed onto glossy paper to create a background. (In this case I used cranberry and lettuce.) I then dabbed gold over the top. (I was hoping this would lead to some Christmas colors, but it ended up being much lighter. ) I liked how it looked so I stamped the flower from All Natural in Stazon on top and matted it on black cardstock. I added gold eyelets at the corners and used the ticket corner punch to round them. I matted it in Wild Wasabi to bring out the green in the background and added the pink ribbon for trim. This is a 3x3 card. Much smaller than I normally do.

The next challenge was to make a "Thinking of You" card to cheer someone up. I thought about the spinner cards that I keep meaning to try and how the thought makes me smile, so I decided to try one. I used Pretty in Pink and Wild Wasabi. This was a color challenge around Christmas time, but I didn't get a chance to do it at that time. I used a new set I just got (Burst into Bloom.) I love how the flowers look stamped. I stamped the wild wasabi backdrop with white craft ink to get the diamonds and then heat embossed them. The spinner is two pennies with a pop dot between them on a little run punched out of the top layer. I added the pink brad for accent and cover the penny in a circle of wild wasabi before adding the top flower stamped in wild wasabi on white cardstock and outlined in pretty in pink. The sentiment I found in the $ bin at Michaels. I think this is one of my favorite cards for the weekend, and I will definitely have to try it again.


I felt a little bad about this next one. I have been wanting to try the glitter window for ages. I thought this little frog fit in there perfectly. My only problem is that I decided to use this card as a birthday card for my brother-in-law. I only added a little silver gel pen accents around the frame and the silver brads in the corner as accents. The challenge was "Bling it on", but I tried to go a little easy since it was for a man. I used Not Quite Navy and Certainly Celery and colored the from in with the Celery. I loved the sentiment and put it on a tag run through a sheer green piece of ribbon. The background is stamped with the cross hatch background in Certainly Celery.

The last challenge I worked on was "The Eyes Have it". It was a challenge to use Eyelets in the project. I found these boxes at the Dollar Tree 12 for $1. I stamped the black ring of flower and then wrapped them in two strips of paper. All the Flower stamps on this project are from Provo Craft. The flowers have been accented with Purple and Pink eyelets from Making memories. I added the tag that had been stamped and tied it on with pink ribbon.

Sorry for the long post, but I was so proud that I finished all these. Some of the other projects that I didn't get done, but will post in the future are a decorated Composition book, a candy bar pocket and purse card.

Springtime Birthday

I got a new Stampin' Up set in the mail today and couldn't wait to use it. It is called Springtime Stems. I pulled out my two favorite colors - Cranberry Crisp and Mellow Moss and got down to business. I cuttlebugged the cranberry panel and patted it with a white craft pad to bring out the words better. I really like this set and how the card turned out.

Color Challenge Submission

Here is my entry for the color challenge: Wild Wasabi, Barely Banana and Blue Bayou. I heat embossed the background, Cuttlebugged the blue piece and stamped on the snaps before I smashed them (that didn't turn out quite like I envisioned.) Delight in Life is one of my favorite stamp sets, so I tend to use it a lot.

Pottery Barn Inspiration

Well the challenge for my today was Saturday's Inspiration Challenge. They give you a picture and you take it from there. The first picture is the inspiration (and entry way from the new Pottery Barn catalog.

The second picture shows my interpretation of the picture into a card. It didn't turn out as well as I hoped. (It was much more vivid in my head.) I wrapped card stock in some burlap scraps I had lying around and layered the green cardstock. I stamped a flower bouquet stamp three times in orange and chalked them in. I then added the mock picture frame with the wording. I love the color scheme, so I will have to go back and try it again.

Weekends Work!

Well besides trying to get my craft room under control. (I am in the process of re-doing it) I was able to do these two cards.

The first is using a Faux Postage template. I found the template at Splitcoaststampers.com. I stamped each of the leaf images in versamark ink and then chalked over them.

The second cards is a panel of cardstock with a pocket on the front. The first picture shows the completed card. The second picture shows the tag pulled out with a gift card on it.

My First Challenge Submission!

I decided to work on this week's Sketch and Technique Challenge. It was a split negative image (the big butterfly) on a sketch layout. I am happy with how the card turned out, but I can't seem to get the image to come through clearly.

Happy New Year!!!

My New Year's Resolution this year was to spend more time creatively (and of course to lose weight. ) Here is my first couple of creative endeavors this year. The snowflake card is one of 10 I completed for the Christmas card challenge on splitcoaststampers.com. Each month, I will complete at least 10 Christmas cards and will be ready for next year early instead of leaving everything to the last minute.

The second card was one I made for my boss for his birthday. All of my Happy Birthday stamps have flowers on them, so I had to use this one. I love the circle paper (it came in a pack I got about 2 years ago and still haven't used.

My second resolution is to get my craft room better organized. I have so many things I forget that I have them. I plan to work on this. My mom sister and I will be going to Ikea in a couple of weeks to shop for organizational stuff.
